Businesses should:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Be transparent about how long the application will take,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Avoid asking broad, irrelevant questions, and<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Provide frequent post-application updates.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We shortened our application from 75 questions down to 31. This led to 15 percent more applications\u2026 That means about US$500,000 in savings. This was when we realized that improving the candidate experience was more than just a good thing to do for the candidate &#8211; it was also a good thing to do for the business.&#8221;<br \/>\n-AT&amp;T Inc.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Screening &amp; advancement<\/h2>\n<p>When it comes to the screening process, candidates want:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Questions to be relevant to the job,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The opportunity to highlight their skills and experience, and<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Some level of communication with the employer.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Unfortunately, the percentage of employers contacting candidates after the application process continues to drop. Looking forward, employers hoping to provide candidates with a positive post-application experience should<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Inform applicants that their application has been received and that next steps will be discussed shortly,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Let applicants know if they have been dispositioned, and<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Give candidates the opportunity to provide post-application feedback.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peoplepath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Candidate-Recruitment-Experience-3.jpg\" alt=\"thumbs up and down\" height=\"321\" width=\"604\" title=\"Candidate-Recruitment-Experience\"><\/p>\n<h2>The Interview<\/h2>\n<p>The mere words &#8220;job interview&#8221; are enough to leave some feeling overwhelmed with anxiety.
